"Place-making: how a construction site in public space can become a learning and meeting point"
In this webinar we will lay out our general approach to place-making actions in Meran/o, Italy. We usually develop our projects in 3 steps: analysis and exploration of the neighbourhood, definition of strategies to be applied, elaboration of a project together with stakeholders and children. The main focus is on the participation of children.
Kids are stimulated to design the place they want to stay and play in as well as to share their ideas and agree on an objective. In this way, they also experience what it feels like to take action in public space in the course of a democratic decision-making process. The children become aware of what public space means in the first place: they realize that it’s no private space and can therefore be actively designed by citizens. Last but not least, kids are included in the brainstorming and definition steps (planning phase) as well as in the construction phase and see their ideas and visions being actually implemented.
The daughter webinar in Italian "Place-making: la costruzione condivisa di un luogo dedicato all'incontro e alla crescita nello spazio pubblico" will take place on Thursday, January 16, 12:00 am – 1:00 pm
